AS THE boy cried, a protective feeling rose up in Wade, the likes of which he had never experienced. The power and intensity of it shocked him. He knew from the moment Nick had told him about Josh that he wanted the boy, and that heartfelt confession just sealed it. For the last several years, he’d taken on submissives who were in it strictly for a cheap thrill. They wanted to be beaten and fucked but lacked the grace of true submission. What Josh had admitted to wanting was exactly what Wade wanted as well, and for the first time in a long time, he opened himself up to the possibility that maybe he could find not only a sub, but a lover.

Wade held him close against his chest and waited for him to settle.

When the boy stopped shaking, Wade touched his face, asking him wordlessly to look at him. When their eyes met, Wade smiled. After a moment, Josh shyly smiled back.

“I think our wants and needs may be exactly compatible,” Wade assured him, and felt Josh’s arms go around his neck. They held each other for a long time as they sat in companionable silence. When Josh yawned quietly into his neck, Wade remembered that the boy had been traveling and was probably exhausted.

After sending Josh upstairs to shower and get ready for bed, Wade cleared up their first dinner together. He considered leaving the dishes soaking in the sink for Josh to take care of the next day, but since he would be introducing the boy to ranch work, he loaded them into the machine and turned it on. Wade hoped they had a long time together to work out a routine.

Turning off the kitchen light, he climbed the stairs and heard Josh turn off the shower. Stripping out of his clothes, Wade climbed into bed and waited for his boy, his mind racing with different possibilities for their time together. After a few minutes, Josh came into the room wrapped in a towel, his hair still damp. Wade didn’t think he’d ever seen a more beautiful sight. The boy’s eyes lit up when he saw his Master in bed waiting for him. Dropping the towel and showing off his tight body, Josh climbed into bed next to the older man and bashfully kissed him on the cheek.

“There are so many things I want to do to that incredible body,” Wade murmured as he wrapped his arms around Josh. Pulling the boy’s head onto his chest, he lay there feeling more content than he had in a very long time. They talked long into the night about Josh’s failed attempt at college, about how Wade ended up a Montana cowboy, and about some of their failed relationships. Wade noticed that they seemed to be much more compatible than even Nick had realized, and he held the boy tighter in his arms as they began to succumb to the draw of sleep.
